Director Gunasekhar is currently working on a mythological tale, titled Shaakuntalam. Touted to be a woman centric film, Shaakuntalam will star Samantha Akkineni as the lead actress, who will be headlining the entire film. Ever since the movie was announced, there is a new buzz of which actors would be a part of this mythological film.
While there are speculations rife that Malayalam actor Dev Mohan, who acted in Sufiyum Sujathayum will be playing the lead role, makers debunked them as baseless rumours. The makers of the film, Guna Teamworks, took to Twitter and released the statement to clear the air about the casting of the film. The statement released said, “We’d like to clarify that the casting process for the other characters in the film #Shaakuntalam is still going on. Request our friends in the media to not speculate on any particular names at this juncture. Thank you for your support (sic.)”
Shaakuntalam is an upcoming Telugu film, which is an epic love story of King Dushyanta and Shakuntala, the daughter of sage Vishwamitra and the heavenly Apsara Menaka. The film will be bankrolled by Neelima Guna under the Gunaa Teamworks banner. Mani Sharma will be composing music. Samantha Akkineni has begun the prep work of her mythological character and Popular designer Neeta Lulla has been roped in to supervise the costumes of the film. Shaakuntalam is expected to go on floors soon.
