Ram Pothineni will be next seen in the upcoming film RED, which is directed by Kishore Tirumala. The film features Amritha Aiyer and Nivetha Pethuraj as his co stars with Hebah Patel performing a special number called Dinchak. As RED is gearing up to hit the theatres on January 14, on the occasion of Sankranthi, Ram Pothineni revealed major details about his character and the plot of the film.
Speaking about his role in an interview, Ram Pothineni said, “I enjoyed playing a dual role in RED and I am surprised at how people are connecting with my portrayal of the bad boy in the film. The reason I signed the film was that it can’t be categorised into a thriller solely. Along with being an intriguing thriller, it also has a beautiful family track and a well written story. The dialogues of the film are massy and will be remembered for a long time. The film is not just an edge of the seat thriller but has emotions and hard hitting dialogues for families to watch on the big screen during Sankranthi. You can take your father, mother, grandparents, boyfriend/girlfriend to the theatre and everybody would love it (sic.)”
The actor spoke about how he had to put on a lot of weight to look the part for the film. He said, “In my earlier film, I had to look lean as that was the demand of the character. But in RED, I had to switch between the two roles so I had to put on seven kgs and I am sure that the hard work will pay off when people would see me on the screen (sic.)”
RED is an official remake of the Tamil action thriller Thadam. The film will also feature Malvika Sharma, Sampath Raj and Vennela Kishore in crucial roles.
