This Pongal, Thalapathy Vijay’s Master hit the movie theaters finally, after a wait which lasted for almost a year due to the lockdown. Fans of Vijay especially, have been eagerly waiting to go to the theaters to watch their star in action on the big screen. The protagonist Vijay and the antagonist Sethupathi did not disappoint in the least and fans have been giving rave reviews on social media.
JD (Vijay) is a professor at a college who is hated by department heads because he always drinks and does not adhere to the rules. Following a big issue, JD is sent to a correctional center for young criminals. The correctional center is handled by Bhavani (Sethupathi) and he runs it with an iron fist so much so that even the police cannot do anything about the rules being flouted. The rest of the story deals with how JD handles Bhavani and makes things right for the youth in the correctional center.
The director Lokesh Kanagaraj knows how to establish a fearsome reputation for the antagonist so as to make the protagonist’s journey even more fulfilling and exhilarating. Thalapathy Vijay delivers an exceptional performance and is a treat to watch. Vijay’s fans will be talking about Master for the years to come. Vijay Sethupathi was at his usual best and managed to make Bhavani’s character fearsome and dreaded. Anirudh Ravichander, the music director for Master once again outperforms himself as he delivered a perfect background score which complements the plot perfectly.
The trailer gives the feeling of multiple confrontations between JD and Bhavani and ends up setting the wrong expectations. This is the only drawback as JD and Bhavani only end up meeting in the climax where they end up fighting each other. This fight will also end up being one of the major talking points of Master.
