Speaking to a leading daily, Samantha compared South Indian films with Bollywood films and said, “Bollywood has the liberty to make films for a particular kind of audience. They don’t have to worry if their film will appeal to every single person. However, in the South, filmmakers have to make sure that we are expected to cater to the needs of everyone in the theatre. It becomes very restrictive. However, films in the OTT platform are a lot bolder and we’re able to take more risks (sic.)”

On the work front, Samantha Akkineni will be next seen sharing the screen space with Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in Director Vignesh Shivan’s Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. She is reportedly in talks for the Telugu remake of the Kannada film, Dia and a biopic about the Kannada music artist Nagarathnamma. Samantha will also play the titular role in Ashwin Saravanan’s horror thriller and will also make her debut as the antagonist in the web series The Family Man, Season Two.
