The pan Indian project of Prabhas starrer Adipurush bottled into a controversy recently due to the statement made by Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The actor, who is playing the antagonist role Lankesh in the film, has said that they will present a humane side of mythological character Raavan and ‘justify’ his abduction of Sita. As this statement was wrong among the people, Saif Ali Khan issued an apology for causing hurt to people’s sentiments.
Tendering an apology, Saif said in a statement, “I’ve been made aware that one of my statements during an interview, has caused controversy and hurt people’s sentiments. This was never my intention or meant that way. I would like to sincerely apologise to everybody and withdraw my statement. Lord Ram has always been the symbol of righteousness and heroism for me. Adipurush is about celebrating the victory of good over evil and the entire team is working together to present the epic without any distortions (sic.)”

Saif Ali Khan was heavily trolled on social media for those statements and hurting the Hindu mythological characters. In fact, some people on social media even demanded a recast of Saif’s role as Lankesh. However, with Saif’s apology, things calmed down a little bit.
Adipurush is an adaptation of the Indian epic Ramayana which revolves around the triumph of good over evil. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ram is also addressed as Adi Purusha. The 3D extravaganza will have a humongous release with the film dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and several other foreign languages. The film is officially set to hit the theatres on August 9, 2022. Adipurush will be the biggest Indian film to release in theatres post-COVID-19. Helmed on the whopping budget of Rs 350-400 crore, Adipurush will have a lot of VFX work involved and techniques never seen before in Indian films.
