Pooja Hegde’s recently made comments about the South film industry being obsessed with navels and midriffs didn’t quite go well among the Telugu audience. She found herself in a bit of a soup with those statements so she issued a public statement to clarify.
Pooja Hegde urged people to watch the full interview before judging and trolling her on social media for statements she made about Tollywood. The actress also released a statement which reads, “Things I said in a recent interview are being misinterpreted. The things I said can be twisted but the love I have for Tollywood can’t be. Telugu film industry has always been vital for me. This is even known to my fans who love my movies. I always say I will never give in to misunderstandings but I will still reinstate, I will forever be indebted to the Telugu film industry (sic.)”
For the unversed, Pooja Hegde was recently questioned in an interview about her role in Trivikram Srinivas’ Ala Vaikunthapurramloo, where Allu Arjun’s character is obsessed with her legs. While admitting that South cinema has an ‘obsession with navels and midriffs’ and that she’d rather have a guy ‘stare at her legs than her midriff.’ She said, “Yes, Allu Arjun’s character is obsessed with my legs in the film but after pointing it out to Trivikra sir about how it could come across as, he added scenes where she punishes him for being so blatant about it. She also makes him see the error of his ways, but not everyone could grasp that. But of course, objectification is never okay! (sic.)”
On the work front, Pooja Hegde will be next seen in the much awaited Radha Krishna Kumar directorial Radhe Shyam, which features Prabhas in the lead role. The actress is also awaiting for the release of Most Eligible Bachelor with Akhil Akkineni, directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar. The film is scheduled to release for Pongal 2021.
