Keerthy Suresh bags yet another direct-OTT release in the form of Miss India which has now released on popular platform Netflix. Directed by debutante Narendranath, Miss India is an inspiring tale with Keerthy Suresh at the core supported by some strong performances in the form of Jagapati Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Kamal Kamaraju and VK Naresh. Miss India too, like many movies, does have few dull moments, but the many hard-hitting moments makes you ignore them. Here’s our review of Miss India:
Manasa Samyukta (Keerthy Suresh) is a young Telugu girl who grows up aspiring to become an entrepreneur. Manasa is emotionally very attached to her grandfather Viswanatha Sastry (Rajendra Prasad) who has a unique skill of treating ailments with his proprietary blend of tea and medicinal plants. Manasa’s life takes a bad turn after her grandfather passes away and her brother is forced to move to the US due to his job. Manasa finds it tough initially but gathers courage to become an entrepreneur and sets up her own business with a unique tea product in the US. To succeed, Manasa decides to adapt from her grandfather’s practices and decides to market her beverage as a lifestyle alternative. And in her journey as an entrepreneur, Manasa meets Kailash (Jagapati Babu) who is a successful businessman and owns a chain of coffee shops. How Manasa becomes a successful entrepreneur and what steps she takes to beat Kailash forms the crux of Miss India.
Keerthy Suresh shines bright in this inspiring tale which talks about empowerment and misogyny. The Mahanati actress hits all the right chords playing Manasa in Miss India and proves yet again why she is the most sought after actress in Telugu. Debutante Narendranath succeeds in penning an inspiring tale and picks the right elements in putting together the screenplay. The dialogues are not too heavy yet they have a good impact. Rajendra Prasad has a short screen time, but in whatever he does, he owns the character and leaves a lasting impact. Naveen Chandra, Sumanth Shailendra, Nadiya, Kamal Kamaraju, Poojitha Ponnada and Divya Sripada chip in with good performances which only enhances the story. Jagapati Babu, playing a baddie yet again, is ruthless but with a lot of suaveness. His second innings playing non-lead roles seems to be the best phase in his career. The visuals, cranked by Sujith Vasudev, are endearing and are a treat to watch. The music by the most happening technician of Tollywood, Thaman S, is one of the highlights of Miss India. While the songs have their own following, it is the background score which has a good impact.
Although few scenes take their own time to get established and proceed, Miss India is a good watch and leaves you inspired at the end. We strongly recommend all of you to watch it. It is now streaming on Netflix India.
