Actor Sonu Sood, who is lately known as a superhero or real hero for his philanthropic work during the Coronavirus lockdown, has been conferred with the prestigious SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP.)
The Alludu Adhurs actor has received this prestigious award for extending his support to migrant labours by providing transport, food and shelter facilities. He has also been providing free education and medical facilities to children and has been creating free employment opportunities to the needy students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The award was presented to Sonu Sood on Monday at a virtual ceremony. The actor expressed his happiness over the award and said, This is a rare honour. UN recognition is very special. I have done whatever little I have done, in my own humble way, for my fellow countrymen without any expectations. However, to be recognised and awarded feels good (sic.)”
He further added saying, I fully support the UNDP in its endeavours to achieve the SDGs by 2030. Planet Earth and mankind will greatly benefit from the implementation of these goals (sic.)”
With this prestigious award, Sonu Sood joins the list of famous personalities like Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Watson, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Antonio Banderas, Nicole Kidman and Priyanka Chopra, who have been also been honoured UN.
