Weekly Recap September 5-11: Here's What Happened In Tollywood This Week

Another week has passed and we have seen big movies being announced, celebrities happy about resuming work and celebrities being affected by the COVID-19 virus.  The movie industry waits for no one as it is a constantly moving wheel which makes and breaks dreams.  While the amount of news about events happening in Tollywood can be mind boggling, as it is hard to separate truth from rumour, we at Telugu Filmnagar will make your life fun and easy with all the Tollywood recaps..  We bring you every Saturday a summary of the important news which occurred this week.

Here are the important news items for this week.

1) Raj Tarun-Starrer Orey Bujjiga to get an OTT release

Orey Bujjiga was supposed to release in March on the occasion of the Telugu new year, Ugadi but could not because of the nationwide lockdown.  The lockdown began on March 24th due to the COVID-19 pandemic and as a consequence movie theaters were shut down and have not opened since then.  Many movies have been released on online streaming platforms during the lockdown and Raj Tarun’s Orey Bujjiga is going to premiere on Aha on October 2nd.  

2) Mahesh Babu’s smashing new post COVID look

The ‘Prince Of Tollywood’, Mahesh Babu is back to the shooting sets with a bang and his brand new look is the real bliss to the eyes.  Mahesh Babu took to his Instagram handle and reposted a picture from his recent post lockdown photoshoot, clicked by celebrity photographer Avinash Gowarikar.

3) Akhil Akkineni announces his next movie with Surender Reddy

Akhil took to social media to announce his fifth movie and next project with director Surender Reddy who is riding high with the blockbuster success of Chiranjeevi-starrer Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.  The movie which is tentatively being referred to as #Akhil5 is based on the story written by Vakkantham Vamsi.

4) Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya director Swaroop RSJ announces his second film

The popular production house, Matinee Entertainment, who is known for its distinct commercial successes like Kshanam, Ghazi and Gaganam, has announced their Production No. 8 with talented Director Swaroop R.S.J.  For his second directorial venture, Swaroop has opted a unique subject on the lines of a bounty hunting film set in a village near Tirupati for the yet to be titled flick.  

5)  Satyadev to team up with Sharan Koppisetty for his next film titled Thimmarusu

With success streak hitting back to back, Satyadev has a slew of Telugu films in his kitty. Satydev’s next Telugu film was announced yesterday.  He will be joining hands with Kiraak Party director Sharan Koppisetty for a new film titled Thimmarusu.  The film is bankrolled by Mahesh S. Koneru and Srujan Yarabolu under East Coast Productions and S Originals banners respectively.

6) SP Balasubramaniam Tests Negative For COVID-19 But Still On Ventilatory Support

Balu’s son and singer S.P. Charan updated about the status of SPB’s health with positive news.  Charan said SPb is spending his time watching cricket and tennis matches and is looking forward to the Indian Premier League.  SPB is also undergoing physiotherapy and Charan said their family is looking forward to the return of SPB back home.  The veteran singer SPB has tested negative for COVID-19 virus.  There was a brief moment of panic when it was learnt SPB’s condition worsened and he had to be put on ventilatory support.

7) Veteran actor Jaya Prakash Reddy passes away

The Telugu movie industry was jarred by the sad and unfortunate news of the demise of senior actor and comedian Jaya Prakash Reddy early in the morning.  The senior actor passed away at his residence in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh following a heart attack.  Jaya Prakash Reddy  has acted in a large number of films in a career spanning almost three decades.  

8) Prabhas adopts Khajipalli Urban Forest 

Prabhas has adopted 1650 acres of Khajipalli Urban Forest block near Dundigal under the aegis of TRS MP Santosh Kumar.  Prabhas and MP Santosh Kumar along with the Forest Minister laid the Foundation Stone for Eco Park and viewed the forest from a temporary viewpoint.  The Urban Eco Park will be named in the memory of Prabhas’ father U.V.S Raju.  Prabhas also donated Rs. 2 Cr and said he would contribute more based on the progress and requirements.

9) Jwala Gutta and boyfriend Vishnu Vishal get engaged

Badminton player Jwala Gutta and Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal, who have been in a relationship for some time now, surprised everyone by announcing their engagement.  on Jwala Gutta celebrates her 37th birthday and to make it all special and cherished for life, boyfriend Vishnu Vishal put a ring on her hand.

10) Sharwanand and director Ajay Bhupathi join hands for Maha Samudram

popular production house, AK Entertainments, officially announced their collaboration with Sharwanand as the lead actor in Ajay Bhupathi directorial film.  The film is touted to be an intensely romantic and action drama titled Maha Samudram.  The production house also stated in a note posted on Twitter that Sharwanand will be doing an intense and strong role in the film, which will be remembered for ages in his career.
