Nani is famous for his performances, which look very natural and therefore earned him the moniker the Natural Star, which he is fondly referred to by fans and critics. Now, the Natural Star is all set to entertain the audience as an antagonist for the first time in the upcoming film V, which is directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti. Speaking about why he choose to play the bad guy, a killer as the teaser suggests, Nani said, “A lot of thought went into shaping a character who kills people, has a weird laugh and is still likeable at some level. V is not a bang bang action film. There are conversations that make you think… (sic.)” Nani also reveals his admiration for Joker, and the grey shades portrayed by Chiranjeevi and Mohan Babu among his favourites.
Due to the current pandemic circumstances, V, which was supposed to be released in theatres in April, is now being released on an OTT platform. The much hyped V will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 5th, 2020. Speaking about the OTT release of V after 6 months of the lockdown, Nani said, “The theatre experience is what I work for. You all know how much I love the first day, first show experience at Prasads (multiplex in Hyderabad.) But we are in an unusual situation and the uncertainty continues. The film was completed long ago and we can’t wait forever. We discussed and finally agreed that someone has to make a beginning — to bring a big, mainstream Telugu film directly to an OTT platform (sic.)”
Speaking to Hindu about his 25th film V as the antagonist and the third time collaboration with Mohan Krishna Indraganti after Ashta Chamma and Gentleman. Nani said, “The team and my fans have been kind to celebrate it as my 25th. I was very intrigued when the story was narrated to me. I play a character that’s scary and eerie, but you might end up rooting for him (sic.)”
The team of V, Sudheer Babu, Nani and Nivetha Thomas are gearing up for the OTT release and are promoting the film on their social media handles. The film also features Vennela Kishore, Nassar, Priyadarshi and Srinivas Avasarala in supporting roles. Dil Raju is producing V and Amit Trivedi is the music composer.
