The 2008 film, Vinayakudu was a small budget romantic comedy starring comedian Krishnudu as the protagonist, Sonia of Happy Days fame, as the leading lady and Poonam Kaur in a supporting role. The film came as a surprise hit at the box office by garnering positive reviews both from critics and fans alike. This film’s tagline, “A Big Fat Love Story” was the most interesting thing, which created a lot of curiosity among Telugu audiences.
According to the latest reports, after 12 years, Vinayakudu is all set for the Hindi remake. The original Director Sai Kiran Adivi will be wielding the megaphone for the Hindi remake, as well. He recently pitched the storyline to a popular Bollywood comedian. While the actor seems to be impressed with the narration, an official confirmation regarding the project is still awaited.
This film was also remade in Tamil and was titled Vinayaka, popular actor Santhanam reprised the role of Krishnudu.
Sai Kiran Adivi worked as the Assistant Director under Sekhar Kammula and made his directorial debut with Vinayakudu and subsequently helmed films like Village lo Vinayakudu, Kerintha and Operation Gold Fish.
