When the COVID-19 virus hit the Indian shores, the country enforced the biggest lockdown in the world. On the orders of the Prime Minister, India went into a strict lockdown for two months from March following which the lockdown prolonged but with a few relaxations. The lockdown meant multiple businesses being affected because of almost zero demand. Tollywood came to a grinding halt as shoots were cancelled and movie releases postponed.
However, with the industries slowly reopening and getting back on track, movie shoots have resumed with strict safety and social distancing guidelines. Samantha Akkineni is all set to get back on sets after a gap of five months as she gets ready to shoot an ad for an e-commerce site. Samantha’s father in law Nagarjuna also made a return to sets as he shot sequences for the reality show Bigg Boss 4, which he is hosting.

Samantha has also been busy with the wedding of Rana and Miheeka which took place recently. With all the personal commitments done and dusted, she will get back to work by taking all the necessary precautions and following the guidelines given by the government.
On the professional front, Samantha will be next seen sharing the screen space with Nayanthara in Director Vignesh Shivan’s Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. She is reportedly in talks for the Telugu remake of the Kannada film, Dia and a biopic about the Kannada music artist Nagarathnamma. Samantha will also play the titular role in Ashwin Saravanan’s horror thriller and will also make her debut as the antagonist in the web series The Family Man, Season two.
