Do you remember the popular film Shiva, which created a sensation in the Telugu states? This film also led to a famous love story of a lovely couple from reel to real. Guess who it is? Well, with this wayback Wednesday, we are going to bring you the fond memories of the Nagarjuna and Amala starrer, Shiva
Nagarjuna and Amala starring in Shiva is one of the trendsetting and phenomenal Indian Telugu and Hindi films, which was directed by Ram Gopal Varma. Shiva is known for two things commonly, one is the sensation cycle chain scene and another is the sizzling chemistry between the lead actors.
No matter which generation, Shiva influenced everyone for various reasons from students to politics. These two throwback pictures of Nagarjuna and Amala from Shiva will make you believe in love. One can’t miss but notice the typical 80s fashion sense by their attires in the pictures. The other picture shows the popping out of the screen chemistry between Nagarjuna and Amala, as they hug each other. Well, who would have thought when they saw the movie for the first time that a reel love story would turn into a real life love story.
Gradually, Nagarjuna and Amala grew fond feelings for each other while shooting for Shiva but never admitted it. With films like Prema Yudham and Niranayam, Nagarjuna and Amala became closer and initially, the cute love tale began. The lovely couple tied the knot in 1992 and recently celebrated 28 years of togetherness.
Speaking about her cute little love story, the veteran actress Amala once said, “Well like movies, love and marriage also happened. Nag surprised me out of the blue and asked me to marry him. When Nag proposed to me, I felt like I was going into a long holiday and it lasted for years. It’s just been a beautiful journey (sic.)”
Meanwhile, here is one interesting fact about Shiva, this movie is inspired by real life incidents which happened around Ram Gopal Varma during his days in Siddhartha Engineering College. All the reel names of the characters were names of his friends at college.
Shiva tells a story about a new student at a college, who is forced to stand up against the violence in his college when he notices gangsters are creating unnecessary trouble. This film won prestigious accolades such as Filmfare Award for Best Film and also won three Nandi Awards for Best Director, Best First Film of a Director and Best Dialogue Writer.
