Weekly Recap July 25-31: Important Tollywood Updates You May Have Missed

Another week has passed and Tollywood keeps on churning updates.  The movie industry waits for none as it is a constantly moving wheel which makes and breaks dreams.  While the amount of news about events happening in Tollywood can be mind boggling as it is hard to separate truth from rumour, we at Telugu Filmnagar are doing a weekly recap.  This activity which is published every Saturday aims to sum up the important news which happened this week which you might have missed. 

Here are the important news items for this week.

1) #AA21: Allu Arjun Multilingual Film With Koratala Siva Is Announced

On account of Allu Arjun’s grandfather Allu Ramalingaiah’s death anniversary, Allu Arjun’s next film referred to as #AA21, has been announced.  This untitled project will be helmed by popular Director Koratala Siva. The much anticipated collaboration will be jointly bankrolled by Sudhakar Mikkilineni and Geetha Arts.

2) Mahesh Babu Completes 21 Years In The Telugu Film Industry

Mahesh Babu, the prince of Tollywood, marks 21 years of an illustrious career in the Telugu film industry, today.  It has been 21 years since Mahesh Babu made his debut as the lead actor with enough shares of highs and lows.  Today, on July 30th, 1990, Mahesh Babu’s debut film Rajakumarudu was released, directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by C. Aswini Dutt.

3) Dulquer Salmaan To Be Seen As Lieutenant Ram In Hanu Raghavapudi Directorial Film

On the occasion of Dulquer Salmaan’s 34th birthday, the makers of Mahanati, Swapna Cinemas announced their forthcoming collaboration with the Malayalam heartthrob by releasing a poster of the film.  The concept poster of the yet to be titled flick was presented as a postcard introducing Dulquer as Lieutenant Ram.  The poster depicts it to be a period romantic entertainer with war backdrop and also has a tagline -“Yuddham Tho Rasina Prema Katha.”

4) S.S. Rajamouli And His Family Tested Positive For COVID-19

The latest celebrity who has been affected by Coronavirus is the ace Tollywood Director S.S. Rajamouli and his family.  Sharing the unfortunate news with his fans on Twitter, Rajamouli posted, “My family members and I developed a slight fever a few days ago.  It subsided by itself but we got tested nevertheless.  The result has shown a mild COVID positive today.  We have home quarantined as prescribed by the doctors (sic.)”

5)  KGF: Chapter 2: Sanjay Dutt’s First Look As Adheera

Director Prashanth Neel unveiled the poster on social media and wished Sanjay Dutt on his birthday.  In the first look, Sanjay Dutt as Adheera sports a dark look with braided hair and mustachioed persona.  His face is filled with tattoos and is seen holding a big knife, giving off grim vibes.  Sanjay Dutt looks fierce and portrays himself to be a powerful character in KGF.

6)  Akkineni Nagarjuna To Team Up With Director Praveen Sattaru For A Slick Action Thriller

On the occasion of popular producer Narayan Das K. Narang’s 71st birthday, the production banner has announced a big project with actor Nagarjuna.  The untitled film is touted to be a slick action thriller, which will be written and directed by Praveen Sattaru.  Jointly bankrolled by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and North Star Entertainment.

7)  Veteran Actor Raavi Kondala Passes Away At 88

Popular veteran actor Raavi Kondala Rao passed away at the age of 88 due to cardiac arrest.  The actor took his last breath while undergoing the treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday evening.  Raavi Kondala Rao acted in more than 400 films.  Some of his notable films as an actor were Pelli Pusthakam, Dasara Bullodu, Edurinti Mogudu Pakkinti Pellam, King, Radha Gopalam and Varudu among others.
