1) Majili
Majili which released in 2019 starred Samantha and her husband Naga Chaitanya as the lead actors while Rao Ramesh is in a pivotal supporting role. Rao Ramesh plays the father of Naga Chaitanya in the movie and is also the father in law of Samantha in Majili. Rao Ramesh plays the role of a father frustrated with his son’s (Naga Chaitanya) delinquent actions while Samantha plays the role of a wife who does not let anyone say anything about her husband (Naga Chaitanya.) Samantha acts as a sponge between Rao Ramesh and Naga Chaitanya by shielding Naga Chaitanya from Rao Ramesh’s frustration. Director Shiva Nirvana was able to portray the bond between a father and his daughter in law with perfection.
2) Oh! Baby
Released in 2019, Oh! Baby is probably Samantha’s best performance so far in her career. Samantha plays the role of Baby, an old woman who is given the body of a 25 year old woman by god. Rao Ramesh meanwhile plays the role of Nani, who is Baby’s son. There is one scene in the movie when a 25 year old Baby spots her son Nani and immediately leaps out of her chair to greet him only to immediately realise that she is not a 70 year old woman but instead an old woman trapped in a young woman’s body. Director Nandini Reddy subtly brings out Baby’s conundrum in this moment to the fore.
3) Raju Gari Gadhi 2
Released in 2017, Raju Gari Gadhi 2 is a horror thriller movie which starred Nagarjuna and Samantha as the leads. Samantha plays the role of Amrutha, a ghost who is unable to find peace. Rao Ramesh plays the role of Amrutha’s father and his chemistry with Samantha is simply outstanding. Rao Ramesh as the father tries his best to instill good values and norms in Amrutha but things go awry due to unfortunate circumstances which leads to the death of Rao Ramesh. Samanth and Rao Ramesh’s camaraderie as a father and daughter is a delight to watch in Raju Gari Gadhi 2.
4) Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu
Released in 2013, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu is a movie which had an ensemble cast and boasted big names like Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh Daggubati. Samantha plays the role of Mahesh Babu’s girlfriend while Rao Ramesh plays the role of Samantha’s father in seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. Rao Ramesh plays the role of a father who is prone to sarcasm and passing comments on others. There is a scene where Geetha (Samantha) tries to introduce Chinnodu (Mahesh Babu) to her family but Rao Ramesh keeps being sarcastic which leads to words being exchanged between Chinnodu and Rao Ramesh. A helpless Samantha is caught between her love towards both Rao Ramesh and Chinnodu which reveals the chemistry between Samantha and Rao Ramesh.
5) Attarintiki Daredi
Released in 2013, Attarintiki Daredi is a movie which had Samantha as the lead actress and Rao Ramesh plays her father again. Director Trivikram Srinivas was able to create ample moments which let both Rao Ramesh and Samanta shine every time they shared screen space in Attarintiki Daredi. In the scene where Rao Ramesh can be seen trying to pacify Kota Srinivasa Rao and Nadiya promises Samantha’s hand in marriage to Kota Srinivasa Rao’s son in the movie. Samantha and Rao Ramesh share a silent bond while Nadiya does the talking. Although Samantha and Rao Ramesh do not talk here on screen, the scene is still powerful.
