Seven years ago on July 6, the shoot for S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali began. The big budget film changed the career trajectory of everyone and of Indian cinema.
The official social media page of the film shared a few pictures from the first day of the shoot. The pictures are swarmed by hordes of fans, and the team wrote, “July 6, 2013. The moment when it all began! We started the shoot of #Baahubali on this day 7 years ago…” (sic) In the pictures, we can see Prabhas in a bulky body clad in a casual t-shirt, jeans and a hat while greeting his huge crowd of fans. In the other picture, Rajamouli can be seen ordering the crew on the mic.

Along with the intriguing storyline, extravagant locations, graphics and star studded cast like Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj headlining the show, the rest, as they say, is history. Baahubali: The Beginning and second part of the film, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, shattered box office records and shall always remain as one of the best Indian films of all time.
The Baahubali series was produced on a whopping budget of Rs. 250 crores and earned more than Rs. 1,800 crores worldwide. Originally shot in Telugu and Tamil, the film also released in multiple languages such as Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Chinese and Japanese to name a few. The franchise garnered quite a few prestigious awards like National Awards, Filmfare, and International Awards like Best Feature film and Best Fantasy Film too.
