Actor and director Renu Desai accepted the Green India Challenge and planted saplings in a park at Jubilee Hills here in the City, on Friday. This initiative was started by Telangana MP Santosh Kumar towards the green Telangana, ‘Haritha Haram, program. The MP involved many celebrities from Prabhas to Vishwak Sen to take the campaign forward.
Renu Desai and her daughter Aadya, took up the challenge and planted saplings in their house. Speaking to a leading daily about this initiative, Renu Desai said, “Every one of us has accustomed to apartment culture these days. Back in those times, people had enough space where they would live in independent houses. We had seen our elders growing trees in whatever spaces they had available. But youngsters of today’s generation have very knowledge about growing trees and their significance. So I am accepting this challenge to spread the message — save nature and protect the environment. As part of the challenge that anchor Udaya Bhanu had nominated me, I have decided to plant saplings along with my daughters. My daughters are 10 years of age, I brought them here to explain how saplings are planted and how trees are beneficial to us. Although plants do not give instant fruits or benefits, they help future generations after 15 to 20 years(sic.)”
Renu Desai thanked Rajya Sabha member Joginapally Santosh for starting the initiative. She also said she doesn’t want to nominate anyone but wants to appeal to everyone to be a part of such green initiatives and plant trees to save nature.
Meanwhile, Renu Desai broke her silence about the rumours of her comeback in Major and she said there is no truth in this news. She also said whenever she signs such a big film, she will surely make a formal announcement.
