Lately, a challenge based on women’s menstrual cycle called ‘Red Dot Challenge’ is going viral. Many young women, actresses are coming out to talk candidly and are busting myths and promote facts on menstrual hygiene. Actress Shraddha Srinath took to social media recently to reveal why she turned atheist and feminist both when she was as young as fourteen.
The Jersey actress states that she was at a family pooja and had gotten her period. Recounting what happened next, she wrote, “At a family pooje, I got my period. I was not accompanied by my mom, so I nudged my aunt sitting next to me and worriedly informed her of it (because I was not carrying a sanitary pad).” (sic)
And instead of comforting her, she reveals that a lady who overheard them told her she’d be ‘forgiven’. She added, “Another good natured lady sitting close, saw me worried and overheard me and said to me, smiling reassuringly, “Parvagilla chinna, devaru kshamistaare/ don’t worry child, God will forgive you” (for being part of the Pooja while menstruating).” (sic)

Right at that moment, the Jodi actress decided it was nothing to be shameful about. She wrote, “That’s the day I became a feminist and a non believer. I was 14.” (sic) Shraddha even posted a lovely picture with the text, all smiles and dressed in a comfy tee-shirt. The actress received comments from fans who were happy to have been offered this insight into her life.
