Director Mani Ratnam is one of the most respected filmmakers in the industry and it’s a dream for every actor to work under his direction. But young actress Amala Paul had hit headlines last year when she politely turned down the offer to act in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming ambitious historical magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan. Amala Paul revealed why she had to turn down Mani Ratnam’s film. “Not everyone can act in every film. I felt I can’t do justice to the role in Mani sir’s Ponniyin Selvan. I felt it’s better to not do a role which doesn’t suit me and face unnecessary criticism later. I hope that I’ll get another opportunity to act in Mani sir’s film in future,” Amala was quoted as saying by a leading daily.

Meanwhile, Amala Paul recently got married to her beau Bhavinder Singh and marriage pictures of them went viral on social media platforms. She will also be seen working on a Telugu remake of Lust Stories, a Netflix show.
Mani Ratnam, on the other hand, is working on the historical drama film Ponniyin Selvan starring many prominent actors like Vikram, Trisha, Aishwarya rai, Karthi and more. The film is slated to release next year in the month of the April.
