Samantha Akkineni established herself as an actress who can pull off any role with exceptional ease and elan. Samantha has played different types of roles in her career which is a testimony to the versatility she carries with her. However, in the recent years, Samantha has been in exceptional form while essaying roles which portray a strong woman character.
It now looks like Samantha might soon star in a biopic movie based on the life of Bangalore Nagarathnamma. An artist who lived in the pre independent India,under the British Raj, Nagarathnamma was one of the best contemporaries of her time in Carnatic music as well as being a learned scholar, and activist. Nagarathnamma established herself as one of the best Carnatic singers in a predominantly male society.

The movie would be directed by Singeetam Sreenivasa Rao and according to reports he was on the lookout for a woman who would be able to play this role to perfection. Initially Anushka Shetty was approached by Sreenivasa Rao, but even though Anushka was interested in the role, she would not be taking it up due to clashes in dates. When Samantha was later approached with the script, she expressed her interest to do the role.
Samantha was last seen in Jaanu, alongside Sharwanand. Jaanu was a remake of the Tamil superhit film ‘96 which had Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan as the leads. Samantha will also be seen as an antagonist for the first time in her career in the Amazon Prime original series, The Family Man season 2.
