The love Indians have for cricket and movies is very well documented. Cricket is almost religiously followed by a majority of the population and movie stars have often managed to gather god-like following. However, when Indian Premier League made its debut, it managed to do something unique. IPL managed to bring both the movie and cricketing fraternity together. Stars like Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta have their own franchise teams competing in the IPL. Movie stars often make appearances as spectators for IPL matches to cheer for their home teams.
When Shreyas Iyer, the young captain for Delhi Capitals, a franchise competing in the IPL was asked by a Twitter user about his favorite South Indian actor. Shreyas Iyer replied saying his favourite South Indian star is Prabhas. It is no surprise that Prabhas’s fame and popularity shot sky high after the Baahubali franchise and with Saaho, Prabhas was recognised as a pan indian actor.

Prabhas is currently working on an untitled film #Prabhas20 being directed by Radha Krishna. Prabhas will be seen in a dual role and the movie is set in Europe. There are further reports of Prabhas being seen as a palm reader. Pooja Hegde will be seen as the female lead and her role is reportedly that of a school teacher. Recently Pooja Hegde revealed that the romance in the movie will feel fresh even though the movie is a period drama.
With the Coronavirus pandemic spreading in India, the IPL 2020 edition is at risk of being cancelled due the imposition of 21 day nationwide lockdown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Movies shootings and theatrical screenings are also halted due to the Coronavirus scare. However, Shreyas Iyer’s reply has definitely given fans of Prabhas cause to celebrate.
