When Samantha first appeared in Tollywood, she was a new face among established stars. Samantha did modelling assignments while pursuing a Degree in Commerce, following which she soon started getting movie offers. Samantha first appeared in Ye Maaya Chesave (2010,) as Jessie, which also had Naga Chaitanya as the lead and making his debut. Little did the Telugu film industry know Samantha would become a trailblazer and carve out her own path after a decade.
Sam had her first big break with her debut Ye Maaya Chesave itself, which was directed by Gautam Menon. Her work in the movie was so good that she earned a Nandi Award. Thus began a journey that would show us what an immensely versatile actress Samantha would become. Following the success of Ye Maaya Chesave, Samantha began appearing in Tamil films as well.
As Samantha began taking on more roles in movies, She received her first big breakthrough with Dookudu (2011,) a Mahesh Babu starrer which went on to become a major hit. She followed it up with S.S Rajamouli’s Eega (2012) which allowed her to shine and showcase her emotional range in acting. There was no looking back for Samantha since Eega, where she followed up with some amazing performances in Attarintiki Daredi (2013) and Manam (2014.) It was at this phase that Sam established herself as a bankable star.
Samantha probably cemented her place as one of the best actresses with her role in Rangasthalam (2018) in which she was a village girl named Rama Lakshmi. Samantha shone throughout the movie and it did not go unnoticed by fans and critics. Samantha appeared in U Turn (2018,) a movie which had her as the lead and critics praised her performance calling it one of her best. But Samantha had no plans to stop and followed them up with beautiful performances in Super Deluxe (2019) and Oh! Baby (2019.) Sam was endearing and convincing as Vaembu in Super Deluxe, a movie that had multiple stellar performances.
Samantha was last seen in Jaanu (2020,) a remake of the Tamil film ‘96. Samantha’s Tollywood journey to the top is nothing short of a wonder, considering that she comes from a background which has no history in films. Today, Samantha is an A-Lister in the industry and her journey is proof that nothing is impossible with talent and hardwork.
