Rana Daggubati will once again to the screen as Bandev in Aranya, directed by Prabu Solomon. The role of Bandev offered Rana Daggubati a chance to showcase his versatility as an actor, as was evident in the recently released official teaser for Aranya. Bandev will be released in Telugu as Aranya, in Tamil as Kaadan and in Hindi as Haathi Mere Saathi.
The teaser shows Rana Daggubati looking rugged as Bandev, a protector of forests. It can be gleaned from the teaser a corporate entity is trying to get a hold of forest land inhabited by a herd of elephants, angering Bandev. Another video was released a little later which shows the making of Aranya in which Rana Dagubati can be seen interacting with elephants in a calm and composed demeanour.
Upon first glance at Rana as bandev it can be easily deduced that Rana Daggubati lost quite a few pounds in weight and appeared lean, which was quite different from his look in Baahubali: The Conclusion, where he looks bulky and all muscle. Speaking about the physical transformation for the role of Bandev, Rana said it was difficult to lose all the extra weight since he is a guy with big physique naturally. However Rana also revealed that he enjoyed the transformation experience citing it as a wonderful learning experience.
Moreover, Rana Daggubati mentioned that he had no idea how Bandev was supposed to look till the first day of shoot. Rana lost 30 Kgs to get in shape for the role of Bandev.
Shriya Pilgaonkar, Zoya Hussain, Vishnu Vishal and Raghu Babu will appear in supporting roles in Aranya. The music for Aranya is composed by Shantanu Moitra and the lyrics for the Telugu version are written by Vanamaali. The movie is slated for release on April 2nd, 2020.
