Seven years ago, director Koratala Siva, production company UV Creations and actor Prabhas gave us an unforgettable film which still feels fresh even after multiple rewatches—Mirchi. This movie broke all kinds of records in the year it was released due to its storyline, comedy, excellent supporting cast and Prabhas’s intensity as Jai.
UV Creations made their debut with Mirchi and earned recognition and respect in the industry. After Mirchi, UV Creations delivered hits like Run Raja Run, Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, Express Raja and the recently released Prabhas starrer Saaho.
Songs, acting, comedy, fights and elements to add mass appeal—Mirchi had everything required to make it a blockbuster. The scene right before the interval, which shows Prabhas pulling off his mask after saving his family from goons, is still a moment which gives viewers goosebumps. The songs vary from soulful melodies like Pandagala to the dance number Darlingey and are still a must have on any playlist or to play during a road trip.
Prabhas stole the show with his acting, seamlessly switching from a guy in love to a man out for vengeance, from displaying intense anger to pouring his heart out. The dialogue “Veelaithe premidham dude poyedhi emundi..maha ithey tirigi premistaru” is just one of the many dialogues which contributed to making the film a hit. The performances of Anushka Shetty, Richa Gangopadhyay, Nadhiya and Satya Raj deserve a special mention because they strengthened the story.
UV Creations, the makers of the movie, put up a post on Twitter which said Mirchi will always be special as it was their first foray into the film industry. Not long after that, Prabhas and Mirchi started trending on Twitter.
7 Years since we forayed into the industry. And we couldn’t have asked for a better start. #Mirchi will always be special! #7YearsForMirchi #Prabhas #AnushkaShetty @sivakoratala #RichaGangopadhyay @ThisIsDSP @madhie1 pic.twitter.com/s1u6oMtTth
