Jaanu – 5 Reasons To Watch Samantha Akkineni-Sharwanand Starrer

Jaanu, the remake of the Tamil movie ’96, will star Samantha Akkineni and Sharwanand in the lead roles.  This pair is perfectly suited to recreate the magic Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan created on screen in the original.  

Jaanu is a beautiful story about two childhood sweethearts who, after parting ways, meet again after two decades at a school reunion.  A solid storyline, music, acting and C. Prem Kumar’s direction—Jaanu promises to entertain you.  Jaanu is slated to be released tomorrow (February 7th.)

1. Samantha Akkineni

Samantha Akkineni has been getting better with every movie she does, in terms of the intensity of her characters and the quality of acting she brings to the fore.  From a simple village girl in Rangasthalam to Vaembu in Super Deluxe, Samantha Akkineni has been nothing short of brilliant.  We are sure she is going to outperform herself once again in Jaanu.

2. Sharwanand

The actor, who starred in hits like Gamyam, Prasthanam, Run Raja Run and Padi Padi Leche Manasu, is a versatile actor capable of seamlessly switching expressions and mannerisms according to the demands of the script.  Sharwanand is a perfect fit for the role of Ram in Jaanu, which was essayed by Vijay Sethupathi in ’96.  Sharwanand looks perfect as a wildlife photographer who meets his long lost love at a school reunion.  Looking at the trailer, Sharwa seems to be the right choice to play Ram in Jaanu.

3. Prem Kumar

Prem Kumar is the director of Jaanu as well as the original, 96, making Jaanu a must-watch.  Prem Kumar did not tamper with the original script much and chose to keep it similar to ’96, modifying only bits and pieces to suit the Telugu audience.  He is keen to recreate the magic 96 did, which we feel is one of the prime reasons to watch Jaanu.

4. Govind Vasantha

In case you did not know, Govind Vasantha is a founder of the viral South Indian band Thaikkudam Bridge, famous for their rock/folk fusions.  As Govind Vasantha composed the music for ’96, which went on to become the best soundtrack of 2018, it is obvious the expectations from Jaanu are quite high.  The songs are already out and we know how viral they went.

5. Remake expectations

’96 went on to become one of the biggest hits in the Tamil film industry.  Jaanu, being the remake of this Tamil movie, has a lot of expectations riding on it.  People who watched the original movie are eagerly waiting to watch how director Prem Kumar recreates the magic a second time.  Having Samantha Akkineni and Sharwanand as the lead cast further upped the expectations from the movie.
