Telugu movies have always marked their presence by setting new benchmarks in film making. There have also been quite a few movies which had animals as central characters of the plot.  Savaari, starring Nandu of Pelli Choopulu fame, is one such upcoming movie.  In this Saahith Mothkuri directorial, Nandu will be seen playing the role of a horse rider.  Savaari also has a horse playing the lead role and is slated to be released on February 7th, 2020.

Rajendrudu Gajendrudu (1993)

S.V. Krishna Reddy, who is noted for making family dramas, also proved himself as an expert in making experimental movies like Ghatothkachudu and Rajendrudu Gajendrudu.  In the latter movie, an elephant was seen playing the role of Rajendra Prasad’s ally.  This Rajendra Prasad-Soundarya starrer, which was released in 1993, remains one of the all time best classic movies in Tollywood.

Mrugaraju (2001)

In Mrugaraju, Megastar Chiranjeevi played the role of a forest ranger who is entrusted with the task of killing a lion terrorising the forest’s inhabitants and a crew of employees involved in a dam’s construction.  From the beginning of the film to the end, the lion’s presence keeps the audience glued to their seats, giving them an edge of the seat experience. Though this movie didn’t fare well at the box office, it received rave reviews for the sheer portrayal of the lion’s character in the movie.

Sahasa Baludu Vichitra Kothi (2002)

Master Nag Anvesh, who played the role of Soundarya’s adopted son in Intlo Illalu Vantintlo Priyuralu, played the lead in this movie too.  In Sahasa Baludu Vichitra Kothi, a boy becomes friends with a chimpanzee and the latter helps him arrest smugglers in the forest.

Eega (2012)

Eega was directed by none other than the Showman of Tollywood, S.S Rajamouli.  K.V. Vijayendra Prasad wrote the story. Natural Star Nani and Samantha Akkineni played pivotal roles in Eega.  As the name of the movie suggests, Eega is based on a housefly which wants to take revenge on Sudeepa, the antagonist.  The movie became a phenomenal success at the box office and went on to become one of the biggest hits of Rajamouli’s career.

Adhugo(2018)
Versatile director Ravi Babu also made a movie, Adhugo, which had a piglet named Bunty in the lead role.  Though the pre teaser of Adhugo managed to build curiosity, the movie did not meet the audience’s expectations.However, if you are someone who loves Ravi Babu’s style of film making and his movies, you should definitely watch Adhugo on Netflix.
