Tollywood has opened the doors in January 2020, with many budget films, with less investment and interesting story plots. The opening weekend of 2020 saw movies like Wife I, Hulchul and Utthara is one such movie, which explores the theme of love in a new light.
Cast: Shriram Nimmala, Ajay Ghosh, Karrronya Katrynn
Direction: Thirupathi SR
Music: Suresh Bobbili
Ashok (Shriram Nimmala) is a village guy who falls for a girl in his village, Swathi(Karronya.) Swathi’s father naturally is not mindful of her choice of love and admonishes Ashok, tells him first to earn a livelihood and then ask for Karronya’s hand.
To earn easy money and to ask for Swathi’s hand, Ashok along with his friends enters a palatial house in his village, owned by Utthara. Who is this Utthara? Why did Ashok and friends enter only her house? Did Ashok succeed in getting his wish fulfilled? This forms the story of Utthara.
Utthara is a cute lovestory based in a village, and has decent performances by its lead pair. Both Shriram Nimmala and Karronya share a good chemistry in dealing with their lovestory. Heroine Karronya lights up the scenes she appears, with great acting skills. The film unit have attempted an element of horror in the second half. Suresh Bobbili has emerged as a great music director, for small budget movies and he shines in this movie with his background score.
Utthara is a good attempt at making a horror comedy and makes for a decent watch.
