Mahanati, the biopic about the legendary actress Savitri, was released in 2018 and became a widely loved biopic in India. Many accolades followed the movie, especially for its lead actress Keerthy Suresh and director Nag Ashwin, including the National Film Awards and popular awards.
The 66th National Film Awards were distributed by the Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu, on December 23rd, 2019.
Members of Team Mahanati, which won it big at the National Film Awards, received their honors, much to the joy of Tollywood. Director Nag Ashwin received the Best Feature Film in Telugu award for Mahanati and Keerthy Suresh received her award for Best Actress.
It was a star studded event, made memorable by an inspiring speech by the Vice President of India.
Mahanati recently received the Black Lady for 4 categories, including Best Picture and Best Actress, at the Filmfare Awards South 2019.
