Ram Charan gave a career defining performance in Rangasthalam, as a deaf villager who avenges the death of his activist brother. Many praised his act profusely after the movie got released. So popular was this Sukumar directorial, that Rangasthalam got dubbed into Tamil, Malayalam and Kannda and gained many views on YouTube.
Rangasthalam won it big at the just concluded Filmfare Awards South 2019, with Ram Charan adjudged as the Best Actor, Best Cinematography for Ratnavelu, Best FemaleSupporting actress for Anasuya Bharadwaj, Best Music Direction for Devi Sri Prasad, Best Lyrics for Chandrabose.
Another big winner in the Telugu category was the Nag Ashwin directorial Mahanati, starring Keerthy Suresh and Dulquer Salmaan. Keerthy, as expected won the award for Best Actress in Telugu for her portrayal of the legendary Savitri and Dulquer won the Critics award for Best Actor for his act of Gemini Ganesan.
Similarly Nag Ashwin was declared as the Best Director for Mahanati, Ashwin dedicated the award to the late Savitri and her memory. Mahanati won 4 Filmfare awards, second to Rangasthalam which took 5 awards home.
South Sensation Vijay Deverakonda’s Geetha Govindam won the Best Actress (critics) award for Rashmika Mandanna and Sid Sriram won for the Best Male Playback Singer for the same film.
It was a memorable night for Rangasthalam and Mahanati !
