The year 2018 has been a phenomenal one for Tollywood. Many new age filmmakers like Venkatesh Maha emerged with innovative films like C/O Kancharapalem, ace directors like Sukumar and Trivikram Srinivas came up with new genre of movies like Rangasthalam and Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, respectively.
Nag Ashwin gave a moving tribute to the legendary Savitri, with his film Mahanati and Koratala Siva made the stylish political thriller, Bharat Ane Nenu.
Filmfare Awards South is around the corner and the nominations are out in all four languages. The awards function will be taking place on December 21st, 2019 at Chennai.
Sukumar’s village drama, Rangasthalam leads with 10 nominations including Best Picture and Best Director category. South Sensation Vijay Deverakonda’s Geetha Govindam stood second, with 9 nominations, followed by Nag Ashwin’s Mahanati with 8 nods.
Venkatesh Maha’s C/O Kancharapalem also made its impact felt, with 6 nominations including one of the Best Picture.
Mohan Krishna Indraganti’s soothing love story, Sammohanam got 5 nominations, including one for Aditi Rao Hydari, for the Best Actress.
So, watch out for this space as the finest talent from South India is honoured on December 21st, 2019.
