Student politics is a commonly frequented theme in Tollywood movies and has an evergreen appeal. Recently, movies like Dear Comrade dealt with student politics in colleges and the underlying faction groups.
George Reddy’s story has been a black point on the Hyderabad map, with student groupism leading to the murder of a promising student leader. Now, a movie was made about this interesting story, with young actor Sandeep Madhav donning the main role.

Story:
George Reddy (Sandeep) joins the Osmania University for higher studies and finds the atmosphere very non conducive for healthy student well being. Students face many problems, including those pertaining to hostel accommodation and food. George soon gets the students’ support and rebels against the administrative unit of the University. He becomes a student leader of sorts. Soon, he goes on to become the undisputed leader of the community, but makes a lot of enemies in the process. How does he deal with these enemies? What happens to him at the end? This forms the crux of George Reddy.
Review:
The current generation may not know who George Reddy is, but the old batch of students remember him as a great fighter. Director Jeevan focuses on building the character of the main role, George Reddy. Sandeep is fierce, soft and ferocious in various moods in the movie. He revels in his well crafted role as a leader and gives an earnest performance.
Heroine Muskaan plays Maya, George’s lady love and does a decent job. Manoj Nandan as the man antagonist, Arjun, is the next best in the movie and his scenes with Sandeep are great. Chaitanya Krishna’s role as the student leader who confronts George is memorable as well.
Suresh Bobbili is slowly emerging as a great composer and he gives a good background score. The fight sequences in George Reddy are good and show the calibre of Suresh as a composer.
With this movie, Jeevan Reddy succeeds in his mission of presenting a story which needed to be told. To relive the experiences of a great leader, watch George Reddy!
