World class actor Kamal Haasan, who is often deemed the ‘Indian Answer to the American Oscars‘ by world cinema critics, is a genius in every department of filmmaking.
The great actor and multifaceted legend turns 65 on November 7th, 2019. This birthday is also special as Kamal enters his 60th year of being in the film industry. His first movie as a child artist, Kalathur Kannamma, was released in 1960.

- How many of you know Kamal Haasan is a trained singer? He is the disciple of the legendary musician M. Balamuralikrishna. Kamal Haasan and singer S.P. Sailaja were colleagues when they learned the rudimentary lessons in Carnatic vocal music under the doyen.
- Kamal is also a great painter. He used to paint a lot during his early days of acting, mostly oil paintings. One of his paintings was used in Amavasya Chandrudu as the lead actress Madhavi’s portrait.
- Kamal Haasan comes from a family of lawyers. His father Srinivasan and his brothers Charu Haasan and Chandra Haasan are professional lawyers. Kamal is the only school dropout in his family.
- Kamal Haasan’s all time favorite actor is the great Tamil icon Sivaji Ganesan and his favorite actress is the legendary Savitri. In fact, he made his debut as Savitri’s son. Kamal mentioned a lot about how he learnt the art of using eyes and head movements to convey subtle emotions from Savitri.
- Kamal Haasan is the most decorated Indian film actor, with a whopping 180 plus national and international awards.
