Can any movie become the defining aspect of an actress’s career so deeply, every role of hers is compared to the iconic role she played in that particular movie?
It happened in the life of a 26 year old Tamil-Malayalam actress, who convinced herself she could essay the role of the iconic screen legend, Savitri, in Mahanati.
Nag Ashwin, the director, had other ideas too, but fate had its last laugh in making Keerthy Suresh the unanimous choice for the role of the late actress.
Keerthy not only worked on her Telugu, but saw to it she got the nuances of Savitri’s expressions convincingly in the reproduced scenes from the late actress’s movies.
Keerthy came out with flying colours in the movie and created for herself a role of a lifetime.
The Turning Point: The Aftermath Of Mahanati
Mahanati went on to fetch Keerthy the coveted National Film Award and her entire choice of films changed with this movie. Now, Keerthy is literally going beyond the South with her new movies. Bollywood beckoned her with open arms. Boney Kapoor cast her in his movie, a sports drama called Maidaan.
Keerthy’s choices were defined by her elevated position because of Mahanati and now, the actress is shuttling between the Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu film industries.
The films lined up for Keerthy also pose a variety of scripts, including genres like comedy, drama, thriller and biopic, amongst others. Keerthy is acting in a slew of movies like, Miss India with Naveen Chandra, Rang De with Nithiin and Penguin.
We wish Keerthy Suresh all the best in her endeavours and a well deserved career. Happy 27th birthday, Keerthy!
