National Award winning actress Vidya Balan recently completed fourteen years in Bollywood. The talented actress shot to fame with Pradeep Sarkar’s Parineeta (2005,) in the titular role of Lalitha, an immortal creation by noted Bengali novelist, Sarath Chandra Chattopadhyay.
The actress recalled her journey in Bollywood and her initial struggling days in South. Vidya remembered the fear of failure in her when she was outrightly rejected in her first Tamil movie, for which she shot some portions.
Vidya relived those moments where the movie’s producer insulted her looks and face, in front of her parents who accompanied her in the sets of the movie.
But, once the floodgates opened with Parineeta, there was no looking back.
Vidya became a symbol of Indian womanhood, pure and unadulterated spirit in the coming years. She even won the National Film Award for the Best Actress in The Dirty Picture, where she portrayed the role of South glamour queen, the late Silk Smitha.
