In a recent interaction with young children of a home for the needy, Vijay said everyone has a goal in his/her life and should fight all odds to achieve it, just preaching will never help in succeeding. Vijay worked on an entire movie to illustrate this fact. The heartwarming portrayal of a vigilante boyfriend, who resurrects the career of his girl, is so cool and Vijay succeeded in driving this point home.
Vijay’s Bobby comes across as a man who has to depend on his neighbours for grinding flour or getting a cylinder for his home needs. However, his undying spirit of an upright individual who supports truth and honesty stands out throughout Dear Comrade.
The sequences where Bobby has a verbal dual with Lilly’s father, when he dissuades Lilly from filing a police complaint and when he works on the health of Lilly, depict how a true companion should be. The movie gives serious relationship goals to young couples and also shows how one should deal with an occasional relationship discrepancy.
Bobby is no Arjun Reddy, who immerses himself in alcohol and professes debauchery. He instead takes to his passion of doing a project about nature healing. The screenplay connects beautifully the strands of Lilly’s rejuvenation with nature cure.
Dear Comrade also explains how a relationship should be built upon, nurtured and be protected. Bobby is a classic example of how an ideal boyfriend, in the words of Lilly, an ideal ‘comrade,’ should be. Every aspiring girl should have a comrade, a companion fighting for her cause.
A comrade is one who always stays by the side of his lady, encourages her to excel in her field of interest. He is not someone who simply sings duets with her, brings her gifts, or pampers her.
Vijay Deverakonda silently reversed the stereotypical trope of a Telugu hero, who has his woman watching lusciously at him in each scene. He changed the geography by placing the right emotions in the right places throughout the movie.
Comrade Bobby will be remembered forever for what he gave us, a hope in our hearts and a smile on our faces.
