Vijay Deverakonda Starrer Pelli Choopulu Achieves Milestone

South sensation Vijay Deverakonda always remembers his first ticket to fame, Pelli Choopulu, with a sense of pride and pleasure.

This movie, with which Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam made his directorial debut, was about an unusual love story between an ambitious girl and how she teaches an easy going guy what life has to offer him.  Pelli Choopulu turns three years old on July 29th, 2019.

The film had simple and situational music by Vivek Sagar, which caught the imagination of cinegoers.  Ritu Varma and Vijay Deverakonda shot to fame as a welcome change with their strong characters, in the image driven world of Tollywood.

The movie also dealt with generational gaps between the millenials and elders belonging to the previous generation.  Pelli Choopulu released on July 29th, 2016 and became a hit both in the Telugu states and in Tamil Nadu, especially in Chennai, running to packed theaters.

Vijay Deverakonda, as a personification of the current generation’s confused youth, gave a heart warming performance.

Pelli Choopulu is noted for the strong characterization of its heroine.  Ritu Varma won the Critics Award for Best Actress at Filmfare Awards South for the year 2016.

Pelli Choopulu also won the National Film Awards for the Best Feature Film in Telugu for 2016 and for Best Screenplay (Dialogues.)  The movie was remade into Hindi as Mitron (2018) and in Malayalam as Vijay Superum Pournamiyum (2019.)
