Revenge thrillers are a rarity these days in Tollywood. People have to sit for hours, deciphering the plot in some movies. Most of the movies work only when they present a taut screenplay and gripping narration.
The Vikram starrer Mister KK is one such film, which combines a very good narrative arc, with commendable performances by its main star cast. It is to the credit of director Rajesh M. Selva, who holds the attention of the audience for nearly two hours, with a thriller movie.
Cast: Vikram, Akshara Haasan, Rajesh Kumar and Abi Haasan
Director: Rajesh M. Selva
Music Direction: Ghibran
Vasu and Aatirah (played by Abi Haasan and Akshara Haasan) are a young married couple in Malaysia, expecting their first child. One day, Vasu, who works as a doctor at a private hospital, gets a call about his wife being kidnapped. The kidnappers threaten to kill his wife, unless he releases one of his inpatients, KK. Vasu hastily releases his patient KK, but does not know the kidnappers, who are criminals in search of KK to kill him.
Who is KK? What happened in his past which makes some criminals try to kill him? Does Vasu save his wife from the goondas? This forms the rest of the story.
The story of Mr KK solely rests on Vikram, who carries the movie on his shoulders. His agility and style, at his age, are to behold. The man has a suave urban look in this movie, which makes him a big draw with his audience. Next to this, Akshara Haasan, as a helpless housewife who is kidnapped and a pregnant woman, looks believable. The main plus point in this thriller is its background music by Ghibran. Abi Haasan as Vasu also holds your attention, especially during the second half.
Mr KK, overall, is a movie which only action thriller fans will like. For people who cannot stand thrillers, stay away from Mr KK.
