The Indian republic is going to know who won in the constituencies on May 23rd.  Almost all the political parties are fighting a tug of war regarding their fortunes in their constituencies.
Cinema and politics go hand in hand in India.  All the political parties field film stars to increase the voter turnout and create a mileage for the parties.

It would be interesting to examine some film stars who contested the General Elections 2019 and their fate.
Prakash Raj: The fierce critic of Narendra Modi, South star Prakash Raj contested from Bangalore Central constituency, as an independent candidate.  Trends show he is losing to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, P.C. Mohan.

Shatrughan Sinha: The ‘insulted’ BJP leader who joined the Indian National Congress (INC)recently contested from Patna Sahib, Bihar.  Trends indicate he is losing against Ravi Shankar Prasad of BJP.

Hema Malini: The ‘dream girl’ of Hindi cinema, BJP’s Hema Malini again contested from her favourite Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.  She has a huge lead against the Rashtriya Lok Dal leader, Kunwar Narendra Singh.

Jaya Prada: Former Rampur MP and veteran actress, Jaya Prada contested against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan from Rampur. She survived a smear campaign recently, but trends point out her defeat in the Uttar Pradesh constituency.

Ravi Kishan: Leading Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan contested from Gorakhpur in UP and is racing towards a thumping win against Ram Bhuwal Nishad of the Samajwadi Party.

Manoj Tiwari: The leading Hindi actor Manoj Tiwari is set to win against veteren Sheila Dixit, from North East Delhi constituency.

Babul Supriyo and Moon Moon Sen: Singer Babul Supriyo (BJP) and veteran actress Moon Moon Sen (Trinamool Congress) contested against each other in West Bengal’s Asansol constituency.  Babul Supriyo is heads and shoulders above Moon Moon Sen and is set to win.

Sumalatha: Legendary actress and widow of politician Ambareesh, Sumalatha contested from her husband’s home ground, Mandya in Karnataka.  She is set to win the seat with a huge margin.

Smriti Irani: The Union minister and Amethi contestant Smriti Irani is a well known TV and movie actress.  She is all set to win against INC President Rahul Gandhi with a landslide victory.

So wait and watch how the cine stars fare at the Centre in the coming years.
