The Kerala Film Distributors Association, an organization responsible for the distribution of movies in Kerala, recently made an appalling decision. The association decided, movies of other languages cannot release in more than 125 theatres in Kerala and cannot claim more than 55 % share of the net income.
The reason for this decision is, the movies of other languages are doing very well in Kerala and the distribution prices of Malayalam movies are rising. This led to the film distributors of other languages demanding and getting a 60 % share of the net income during the 1st week of the films’ release, similar to the share claimed by Malayalam films during their 1st week.

Stars like Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu and many others from the Telugu film industry have carved a unique market for themselves in Mollywood. Due to this drastic change made by the authorities, they are the ones most affected as the Kerala movie industry is hanging them high and dry.
