Jayalalithaa was one of the most influential women of the South Indian politicians and was also the woman who inspired many young women of our generation as well. She served as the Chief Minister (CM) of Tamil Nadu for two tenures and proved to be an able administrator, a proper stateswoman and also a visionary. Her tragic death sent shockwaves throughout South India and plunged the state of Tamil Nadu into a sea of sorrow. However, the inspiration she gave refused to die out.
Her great work and her many schemes to lift the underprivileged intrigued the younger generation. Her mysterious illness and consequent death raised quite a number of questions in the minds of the audience. Therefore, many young people came forward to present the life story of Amma on the big screen. Priya Darshini, a young director, is going to portray her findings on the big screen through her movie The Iron Lady of India.
Now, news is, the biopic of Jayalalitha is being made into a web series as well. With close to 32 episodes of a rollercoaster ride focussing on the great woman’s life, this web series is going to feature Ramya Krishnan in the role of Jayalalithaa. Gautham Vasudev Menon, the director of many hit movies such as Ye Maya Chesave, Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu and many others, is going to direct The Iron Lady of India.
The makers of the Jayalalithaa biopic web series figured, to present a character as strong as Jayalalitha, an actress who is equally strong must be chosen to pull off the role and therefore, Ramya Krishnan is portraying Jayalalithaa.
Two other projects based on Jayalalithaa’s life story were announced by A.L Vijay and Bharathiraja, but the cast details regarding these projects are yet to be finalized.
