It looks like the year 2019 is going to be a rollercoaster ride. It applies to the film fraternity as well. While many actors and directors, on the 31st of December 2018 and 1st of January, 2019, released the first looks, project details and teasers of their movies, some went ahead and made astonishing declarations which left the whole industry gaping at them.
Prakash Raj is one of them. Prakash Raj is one of the most versatile and noted senior actors of the South Indian cinema. His roles in Bharat Ane Nenu, Temper, Pokiri and many other blockbuster hits made us and the movie world believe there is no one like him in the movie biz. However, the actor is soon planning to make a similar impression in the world of politics as well.
The actor declared, he is going to contest as an independent candidate in the Lok Sabha elections scheduled this year. Prakash Raj was enraged by the silence of the higher authorities regarding the murder of a senior journalist, Gauri Lankesh, in Bangalore. He questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and their followers, thus rubbing them off on the wrong side.
The actor said, he is not going to be a part of any party, neither the opposition nor the ruling party, but will contest the elections on his own. While Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth already entered politics and are creating a sensation in the Tamil Nadu political scenario, Prakash Raj’s entry into politics looks like the most obvious and next to natural move.
However, unlike some others who make empty promises and disappear into thin air until next elections, Prakash Raj might actually do something for the betterment of the society. The actor already adopted two villages and took it upon himself to work on the planning and development of these villages. Kondareddipalle in Mahabubnagar District, Telangana State and Bandlarahatti in Chitradurga district, Karnataka, are the villages Prakash Raj adopted. He is currently working for the development of these villages.
