Ace director, A.R.Murugadoss is currently basking in the success of his recent movie, Sarkar. The director gained much fame and popularity for his unique concepts and strong storylines and that definitely reflected in the box office numbers of Thuppakki and Kaththi.
However, this time Murugadoss bit off more than he could chew. Sarkar, a political thriller landed in a controversy. Apparently, certain scenes in the movie featured the
AIADMK party as the bad guy in the movie. This upset the followers of the party and they created havoc in the theaters. In Coimbatore, the upset followers tore down the banners of Vijay Thalapathy. The scenes featuring A.R. Murugadoss giving a cameo appearance and burning the papers distributed as freebies by the government, are in the spotlight.
Several members of the AIADMK party staged a protest in front of the theaters screening Sarkar and demanded the scenes depicting Jayalalitha in a negative shade be removed from the movie. The Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister, Jayakumar, questioned the crew of Sarkar and asked them if Komalavalli was the only name they could think of while shaping the antagonist’s character.
The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association requested A.R. Murugadoss to cut out the scenes that fuelled the fire in the state and the director agreed to do so. However, there isn’t any official confirmation on this front. The AIADMK party filed a complaint against Murugadoss under Section 124A (Sedition) of the IPC, for insulting the Government of Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu police walked down to Murugadoss’s residence only to find no one to answer the door.
