Tollywood is not only known for its amazing talent and global recognition but, also for its generosity. The State of Kerala is facing a serious spate of unlucky and disastrous floods and Tollywood as a whole reached out and is helping. The Industry, that is full of glamour and chic divas has once again proven beneath all the grandeur there is a heart that reacts to dire circumstances.
The Mega Star of the Telugu film industry, Ram Charan donated a sum of Rupees 60 Lakhs along with 10 tonnes of rice to the the Chief Minister’s Diaster Relief Fund (CMDRF.) Vijay Devarakonda, the young and versatile actor of Arjun Reddy, Rs. 5 Lakhs to the Kerala Flood Relief Fund. The doll eyed beauty Anupama Parameswaran, donated a sum of 1 Lakh rupees to the same cause. The Telugu and Tamil Industry favorite duo, Surya and Karthi donated a sum of Rupees 25 Lakhs to help the needy in Kerala. Kamal Hassan donated a sum of Rupees 25 Lakhs for the cause.
That being said, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, K. Palaniswami on the 9th of August, contributed a sum of Rs. 5 crores to the flood stricken areas of Kerala. The political party, DMK contributed a sum of Rs. 1 crore to help the State recover from the damage. These generous gestures from the states surrounding Kerala, and the Telugu and Tamil film industries alike speaks volumes about the fact despite the differences and the cultural diversity, in the face of adversity, we all come together and have each other’s back.
