The much awaited and talked about movie, Vishwaroopam-2 hit theaters today worldwide. Despite, the hype and expectations set by the team of Vishwaroopam-2 the movie fell short of the public expectations. The Super Star, Kamal Haasan in his effort to be a part of everything, left a few loose ends that proved to be a drawback for the movie.
The first half of the movie was intensely focussed on while the second half was a tad bit too long . The action sequences where gun fights and time bombs are common, the sound effects and the audio have been overworked on. To develop intrigue and curiousity, the character of Wisam Ahmad was created. Wisam Ahmad has a double life, where in one role he plays a US based Kathak guru while in the other in he plays the Kashmiri spy. The fact that Wisam is solely recognized based on his religious identity and not his work comes up multiple times in the movie leaving a sour taste to it.
The movie also makes an attempt to go by the regular formula of the industry by adding a few close moments between Nirupama and Kamal Haasan but it hit a flat tone with the audience. The most versatile actor of our generation, Kamal Haasan has set the expectations at the extreme end of the meter but fell short of it.The old age actress Waheeda Rehman, plays the role of Wisam’s mother and was the trigger to set off the sentimental angle where she plays the part of an Alzheimer patient ,an attempt to show the softer side of Wisam, the ruthless spy.The support cast of the movie Andrea Jeremiah, Shekhar Kapoor, Rahul Bose and others have done well in their respective roles but as a whole it did not hit the wow factor with the audience. The sequel of Vishwaroopam came in after 5 long years and the curiousity and anticipation factors were pretty high, but were unsated by the team of Vishwaroopam-2.
