Globally acclaimed Actress, Priyanka Chopra speaks to Vir Sanghvi on Challenging the Status Quo & Forging New Paths .
She hopes she has opened doors for other female stars of India and Asia in Hollywood Mainstream Cinema. On the 6th of August, New Delhi Priyanka speaks at the FICCI Ladies Organization shortly known as FLO.
The actress recently quit the TV series Quantico in which she played the role of Alex Parish. The actress says that the role of Alex Parish comes in a full circle and that is a great feeling. She further says, that playing the part of Alex Parish has been challenging emotionally and physically but then it was worth it since it opened doors for many other Asian and Indian women of color to play leading ladies on the global stage. Winning the People’s Choice Award, Priyanka Chopra is also the first South Asian to headline an American Network Drama Series.
Priyanka says that she seems to have gathered a foothold in the Industry since her movie, Baywatch and the movies that followed. A Kid Like Jake and very recently she bagged a role in an action movie starring Chris Pratt. She further mentions that her dreams go beyond and she would like to act theatre on Broadway and a desire to work in multiple languages and learn more. She strongly believes in the empowerment of women and adds that women have very less oppurtunity and due to this factor, women constantly pull each other down to obtain a better place and position in an organization or in the face of a choice. But, Priyanka claims she found a solution to this evolving competition by wearing her greatest asset, her confidence properly so she actually can be the best version of herself and be someone people can depend on.
The FLO, is an organization that recognizes women achievers and brings them in for interactive sessions to discuss their challenges, odds they faced and most of all their journey to the top.
