Kannada beauty, Sanjjanaa is prepping for a tough and intense role in her next. She is going to be featuring as Vasavadatta in Kumaranasan’s Karuna.
Speaking about this film Sanjjanaa replied, ‘We shot the climax sequence first, and as much as I like the fact that the entire film rests on my shoulders, it was draining. There were a lot of intense emotions involved, which needed immense hard work.’
This film is directed by Muthukulam Mahadevan, he says the whole story will be based on Vasavadatta’s point of view. Further he said, ‘It will explore the relationship between Vasavadatta and her lady-in-waiting, Uttara, played by Meera Nair.’
Kumaranasan’s Karuna is an original story where Vasavadatta, a courtesan, falls for a Buddhist monk. The director stated, ‘In our film, the attraction that Vasavadatta feels is not purely carnal but beyond that. We also explore the circumstances that made an ordinary girl a courtesan.’
Sourabh Saraswath plays the role of the Buddhist monk. Mahadevan lastly clarified saying, ‘The film is also based on the Buddhist principle of dharma, and is a protest against adharma.’
This is yet a very challenging role for Sanjjanaa. Good luck girl!
