Ferocious looks, strong physique, deep and intense voice. These are some features we find in the Tollywood antagonists. Villains are the ones who take over the dark side of a movie. They are the reason the line “Good always wins over Bad” is justified. A hero’s strength is depicted by the power of the villain.
These following actors have shown their dark charisma well on screen. They indeed gave a run for talent to the lead actors in the respective films. Check it out!
Raghuvaran – The 90s swagger, Late Raghuvaran was a cult star of the South Cinema. His lethal demeanor and deep voice are just to go crazy for. Raghuvaran’s characters in prominent films like Bhavani in Shiva, Antony in Baasha and Satya in Mass. You will always be remembered…!
Kota Srinivasa Rao – The actor who can portray the expressions and roles to the ‘T’, is none other than the veteran Kota Srinivasa Rao. Kota just nailed it, in the film Ganesh(1998), as the Health Minister Samba Sivudu. Likewise, as Bhavani Shankar in Malliswari and as the opposition leader Jawahar Naidu in Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu.
Prakash Raj – He was Obul Reddy in Okkadu, Ali Bhai in Pokiri, Waltair Vasu in Temper and Rana Babu in Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu. There is no such role that the ace Prakash Raj cannot play. His villainism is a boon for a film’s success.
Gopichand – He is one of the top actors in T Town. His good looks and suave dance moves make us go wow! But how many of you remember Gopichand’s villain roles? He was Bhadranna in Varsham, Raghu in Jayam and the famous role, Devudu in Nijam.
Pradeep Rawat – Pradeep Rawat got famous for the role as Bikshu Yadav in S.S. Rajamouli’s creation, Sye. Then, he went on to do A.R. Murugadoss’s Ghajini, in which he played dual villain role, Ram and Lakshman. Further, in films like Naayak and Veera.
Jagapathi Babu – Jagapathi Babu is spreading his prominence as one of the current top villains in Tollywood. In films like Legend, Jaya Janaki Nayaka and Lingaa, Jaggu Bhai has shown his magic as the antagonist. Most importantly, in the award winning film, Nannaku Prematho, Jaggu Bhai as Krishnamurthy, was simply superb!
Sonu Sood – Bommali Ninnu Vadala..! Who can forget this dialogue? The character Pasupathi, Aghora Adhipati essayed by Sonu Sood. This man surprised us with his acting. We only thought Sonu was a cool and stylish baddie. But he proved us wrong, that he is not only a cool performer but also a deadly performer with Arundhati. Sonu Sood’s other popular villain roles are, as Naayak Bhai in Dookudu and Bittu in Julayi.
Rao Ramesh – The son of late veteran actor/antagonist, Rao Gopal Rao, Rao Ramesh has taken the charge. In A Aa, he is seen essaying the role of Pallam Venkanna, the village head. Rao Ramesh also played the role of Narasappa in Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu.
S.J. Surya – One of the blockbusters of the year is SPYder. The movie grabbed the spotlight not only on Mahesh Babu but the villain, S.J. Surya too. He essayed the role of Bhairavudu, who is a psychopath. Next, Surya will be playing antagonist in the upcoming film, Adirindhi, the Telugu dubbed version of Thalapathy Vijay’s Mersal.
Aadhi Pinisetty – The young and handsome, Aadhi enticed the audience with his role in Sarrainodu. His character, Vairam Dhanush, is cunning and a powerful one in the film.
Arvind Swamy – The cruel and merciless Siddharth Abhimanyu was a feast to the eye in Dhruva. Arvind Swamy has slayed it all through the film and gave a tough fight to Ram Charan’s craft. Especially the scenes where we have both the men together, it’s just incredible!
Rana Daggubati – It would be a big miss if I did not mention, Bhallaladeva. The cult sensation, Baahubali, is a huge example for strong characterizations. In particular, the villain, Rana Daggubati has completely done justice to his role.
Dev Gill – The reincarnation drama, Magadheera, has Dev Gill as Ranadev Billa, the villain. This movie was a big hit of its time. Dev Gill was also seen in Ragada and Racha.
Indeed a salute to these villains without whom a film would never be complete.
