Raju Gari Gadhi made on a shoe-string budget, had created wonders at the box office in 2015. Two years later, director Ohmkar is back with the franchise of Raju Gari Gadhi and this is not a sequel. In fact, the makers have acquired the remake rights of Malayalam film Pretham and reworked on it to suit the Telugu nativity. That is Raju Gari Gadhi 2.
The film got bigger with the joining of Nagarjuna Akkineni and Samantha Akkineni. The film’s trailer has raised the expectations bar further and let’s check out whether the film live up to all its hype or not.
Ashwin, Kishore, Praveen are three friends who invest their money and buy the Raju Gari Estate. They start a resort and their business starts on a bright note. While Ashwin is already in love with his girl Bala (Tejaswi Madivada), Kishore and Praveen are after Suhanisa (Seerat Kapoor), a glamorous guest at their resort. All goes well. However, their world comes crashing down when they realize there is a ghost in the house.
They approach a world-renowned mentalist Rudra (Nagarjuna), who has special and unique skills, to trace down the truth and also spot liars and criminals. The three friends seek his help. Thus, Rudra turns a ghost-buster. He finds there is a soul, who is referred to as an invisible energy.
Unarguably, Nagarjuna has delivered finest performance as a mentalist. His aura, his presence brings freshness to film. Certainly, he has taken the movie to the next level. And so is Sam. Kudos to Sam for taking up a special appearance in a film like this. Sam and Nagarjuna shoulder this horror-comedy.
Vennela Kishore, Praveen, Shakalka Shankar (Yesu) tickle the funny bones of audience. Ashwin is alright. Rao Ramesh once again proves he is at his best. By and large, Ohmkar has recruited a good cast.
Thaman’s Background Music
PVP’s Production Values
Unlike Raju Gari Gadhi, Raju Gari Gadhi 2 is more of a serious and emotional film. Although there is humour, it is confined only to few portions. The story takes the front seat. Right from the word go, the filmmaker indicates that there is something wrong in the resort. And that’s where Ohmkar succeeded as a director ensuring what the film is about right from its beginning. He stuck to the genre and the story.
Although it is predictable, the film is engaging enough to sit through it. It holds the interest of viewers on what’s going to happen next. And of course, climax is very convincing and justifies the story. The ordeal of an ordinary girl Amrutha (Samantha) has been conceived well. She is the soul of the film.
Thaman’s background score is a big asset for a film like this. It is re-recording that plays crucial role in the movie in setting the mood of the film. VFX works are good. The film has pretty good production values. Thanks to PVP, Niranjan Reddy (Matinee Entertainment). On the whole, RGG 2 makes for a good watch.
Final Verdict : Raju Gari Gadhi 2 Is A Must Watch. You won’t be disappointed.
