She grabbed the opportunity of working with the most prominent actors of Indian cinema. Silk Smitha is known for her flawless golden skin, deep expressive eyes and toned body. The actress achieved immense craze among the audience.

Personal Life – Silk Smitha was born as Vijayalakshmi in Eluru in the year 1960. She discontinued her schooling, due to the financial pressure on her family, when she was in the 4th standard. Silk got married at a very young age. She was later mistreated by her husband, which was when she fled to Chennai (then Madras).
Filmography – Silk Smitha was first noticed in the Tamil movie, Vandichakkaram. In the 17 years of her film career, Silk has acted in over 450 films. Out of which 32 films were Telugu. Amongst all her hit songs, Bavalu Sayya from the film, Baava Bavamaridi and Janavule Nera from Aditya 369, are famous. In 2011, The Dirty Picture, starring Vidya Balan directed by Milan Luthria, was released, as a tribute to Silk Smitha. Vidya Balan played the titular role and had won the Best Actress Filmfare Award.
Silk Smitha’s Demise – How did she meet with her end? This question is unanswered. It’s been 21 years since Silk passed away. She breathed her last in the late hours of 22nd September 1996. Reports say it was a suicide due to depression , but some say it was a murder. Still, it remains as an unsolved mystery.
