Here is Arjun Reddy Movie Review :
Arjun Reddy has been making a lot of noise. Thanks to the film’s promos, posters that saw its protagonist Vijay Deverakonda locking lips with the film’s leading lady Shalini. The film’s teaser and trailer have been a rage making Arjun Reddy one of the most eagerly anticipated film.
In addition to this, the recent controversy over the film’s posters on Outdoor media, where former MP V Hanumantha Rao joined the protest against the film and expressed his angst by tearing its posters have garnered media glare on to the film. Also, Vijay’s bold speech at the film’s pre-release function catapulted so much attention and kept the film in headlines.
As the film is finally in cinemas today, without further delay, check out our take on the film.
Arjun Reddy (Vijay Deverakonda) is a surgeon who has an impeccable academic record – topper of St Mary’s 2008 batch, topper of the university, topper of the board, but a ‘zero’ in anger management. He is non-compromising,non-conformist guy who goes to any extent for the ideas he stick to. He was even ready to leave the college as he doesn’t want to write on apology letter. And then he meets Preeti Shetty (Shalini Pandey), the newcomer in the college. He falls for her and decides to stay back in college.
Soon she started liking him. And the duo get along very well in no time. She moves with him and they can’t leave each other even for a few days. Everything goes well until Preeti’s parents learn about her relationship with Arjun. Things get worse, unexpected. Preeti gets married to her relative in their caste. Arjun finds it very hard to come to terms with the ‘break-up’. He gets addicted to drugs, alcohol and tries to have ‘affair’ with girls to overcome pain created with Preeti’s absence. His family dejects him.
Arjun ends up as a loser. He is suspended and his licence as surgeon has been cancelled for five years for performing surgery under alcohol influence. He still can’t come out of Preeti. He loses his loving grandmother (Kanchana) and things slowly starts changing.
Will Arjun win his love Preeti? Or Will he end as a failure?
Vijay Deverakonda breathes life into the character of Arjun Reddy. Probably, no other actor of this generation could pull off the role so well as Vijay did. This is his best performance till date. At many portions, he remind us of Leonardo DiCaprio for his raw, realistic and robust acting prowess. He carries the film on his shoulders literally. He gets under the skin of the character so well that we don’t see Vijay on screen but we see only Arjun Reddy.
Shalini Pandey is a blessing. She is easy on eyes and came up with really good acting performance. Her expressions look so real, natural during bold and kiss scenes. Kamal Kamaraju, Sanjay Swaroop, Vijay’s friends have all done pretty good job. The film offers finest performances.

Arjun Reddy is perhaps the boldest film made in Telugu cinema in the recent times. The film offers you what it promises to be. In fact, more than what we expect from its teaser, trailer. Kudos to debutant director Sundeep who stuck to genre and made a sincere attempt. Writing is intact. Direction is pretty good. Sundeep opted for a non-linear screenplay format which is impressive, new. It’s a hard-hitting film that is well-conceived and well-made.
However, the love track between lead pair could have been better. Yes, it is excusable given Sundeep is first-time director. Technically, there is nothing to find fault at. Background music is a huge asset for the film. Also, the film has nice photography. Cinematographer deserves a pat on the back.
On the whole, Arjun Reddy gives you an adrenaline rush. The film and its characters leave a lasting impact.
Arjun Reddy is an arresting, addictive film that is true to its genre. Go for it.
